Shine on a spotlight on Ontario’s family doctors

The OCFP Awards honor the breadth of innovation and the diversity of practice within our membership. Every year, the OCFP recognizes family doctors making significant contributions to the wellbeing of their patients, communities and society, along with medical students and residents who are emerging leaders and advocates for the profession of family medicine.

OCFP Award Categories

Regional Family Physician of the Year Award

This award recognizes the contributions of six family physicians, one from each region of the province, who provide exceptional care to their patients, making significant contributions to the health and wellbeing of their community and/or society in general and dedicating themselves to the education of future generations of family doctors.

Awards of Excellence

These awards recognize five family physicians who, in the past 24 months, have made an outstanding contribution in one or more of the following areas: patient care, community service, hospital or health care institutions, College activities, teaching, research and other elements of the academic discipline of family medicine.

Family Medicine Resident of the Year Award – Ontario’s Rising Star

This award recognizes a resident who is an emerging leader and advocate for family medicine.

Medical Student of the Year Award

This award recognizes a medical student who is an emerging leader and advocate for family medicine.
