The Ontario College of Family Physicians (OCFP) is pleased to announce the appointment of Deepy Sur as the organization’s new Chief Executive Officer effective May 21, 2024.

With a strong background in advocacy and government relations, Deepy has worked extensively in primary care and stands ready to drive change on the issues facing our profession today. She is ready to lead the OCFP’s strategic vision to support family physicians.

Deepy is a member-focused leader who will work to enhance OCFP initiatives to support you in your practice. She comes to the OCFP from her role as CEO of the Ontario Association of Social Workers where she has nearly doubled voluntary membership enrollment. In this position, she oversaw the launch of province-wide engagement networks, established an innovative learning centre for members, and built new and sustainable revenue streams for the organization. She secured more than $1.5 million in grants to launch interprofessional training streams for more than 15,000 learners. She is a collaborative leader who will bring a strong voice and clear vision for the OCFP.

Her previous leadership roles include a tenure at Trillium Health Partners leading large scale ambulatory and in-patient programs, and as an Assistant and Adjunct Clinical Professor at McMaster University in the Family Medicine Teaching Unit. She has strong non-profit governance acumen and a keen interest in the use of artificial intelligence in health care.

Our Board of Directors welcomes Deepy and looks forward to continuing our important work to advance family medicine in Ontario. The Board of Directors thanks Leslie Greenberg, acting CEO, for her tremendous support and leadership during the time of transition.
