Indigenous Patient Experiences in Health Care

Gain a deeper understanding of Indigenous patient experiences and explore approaches to care that support healing, trust and partnership. In this session, participants will examine the difference between healing and healthcare, learn about the role of storytelling and listening in Indigenous approaches to health and wellness, and explore what a collaborative approach to healing care for Indigenous people can look like. Family physicians will gain practical insights to support culturally safer, relationship-centered care and strengthen connections with Indigenous patients in their practice.
The Health Equity Community of Practice for Ontario Family Physicians Community of Practice has been certified by the College of Family Physicians of Canada and the Ontario Chapter for up to 1 Mainpro+ credit. This Community of Practice includes a series of planned webinars. Each session is worth 1 Mainpro+ credit, for up to a total of 17 credits.
