Clinical Application of the Long-Term Care (LTC) Fracture Prevention Recommendations for Frail Older Adults

Virtual Event Virtual Event

January 17, 2025 | 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm

Long-term care (LTC) residents are more dependent, frail and vulnerable, and require more complex care than community-dwelling older adults. Yet many interventions intended to reduce fracture risk are not used consistently in LTC, and clinical practice guidelines for osteoporosis have focused on the care of adults living in the community. This program aims to address existing care gaps by illustrating the application of pharmacological and non-pharmacological fracture prevention recommendations with frail older adults in LTC. After active engagement in this program, participants will be better able to:

  • Assess fracture risk using Fracture Risk Scale
  • Apply evidence-based recommendations for fracture prevention in LTC
  • Recognize challenges and barriers to implement the recommendations and use enablers
